InterAct presents roof-raising line-up at the Nerve Centre
FIGHTING WITH WIRE, MojoFury, Intermission and The Flying Castros are set to perform at what promises to be the youth gig of the summer. Presented by InterAct Youth Arts Festival, this electrifying line-up will perform for your sonic pleasure at The Nerve Centre on Friday 29th July.
The line-up and the host venue have been handpicked by the members of the Youth Forum who inform all of the programming for this 7-day 12-venue youth Festival. The local three-piece Fighting with Wire delivered a blistering set at InterAct 2010 at the Forum and left such an impression that InterAct have invited them to return due to popular demand.
In 2009 this post-hardcore trio were picked up by major label Atlantic Records with a view to distributing their 2008 album ‘Man vs. Monster’ worldwide. Since they formed in 2003 Fighting With Wire have done what rock bands are meant to do: they have written a barrage of riff-laden catchy rock tunes and taken them to the road. The last few years has seen them play shows with Reuben, Biffy Clyro, Million Dead, Seafood, YCNI:M and Future Of The Left, racking up hundreds of miles and honing their live show into a ferocious explosion in the process.
Another highlight of the night will come from alt-rockers Mojo Fury. The release of their debut album ‘Visiting Hours of a Travelling Circus,’ has been lauded by all corners of the rock music press during its release in May: iTunes ran the band as ’Single of the Week,’ Rock Sound as ‘Band of the Week’ and features in Front and Kerrang magazines ran in June. Artrocker (‘Album of the Month’), Kerrang, Big Cheese and Rock Sound were all lavish in their praise, and BBC Radio 1, NME Radio, XFM, Total Rock and more have been playing out cuts from the album.
One of those cuts, the epic and engulfing ‘We Should Just Runaway,’ is to be released as their third single on July 10th to coincide with appearances at three of the Sunday Times Essential Festivals – Sonisphere, Two Thousand Trees and Beautiful Days. What they do is no secret to music lovers in NI; like Fighting With Wire, they pack a room each time they play.
Intermission also return to InterAct 2011 after winning over the crowd at last year’s Festival. They also won the approval of Sir Bob Geldof when they competed in the YouBloom songwriting contest last year. Consisting of two former members of Kharma 45 and the former bassist from Empire Intermission are sure to gain more admiring fans as a result of this gig.
The Flying Castros complete the line-up. Favoured by many on the local music scene, they will deliver their trademark high energy indie-rock, with dirty guitar licks, sleazy synths, and thumping beats.
This roof-raising line-up, presented by InterAct Youth Arts Festival, is due to perform at The Nerve Centre on Friday 29th July @ 8pm. Tickets priced at £7 (including £1 booking fee) are currently on sale at the Forum’s Box Office and The Nerve Centre for this all-ages, no-alcohol gig.
